At its 11-acre urban retreat on the Chao Phraya River, Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort has named Michael Robinson as General Manager, effective January 2023.
In his new position, Michael will be in charge of managing all aspects of the hotel's 281 guestrooms, 95 suites, 11 restaurants, Loy Pela Voyages luxury river cruise, Anantara Spa, BDMS Wellness Clinic Retreat, and large meeting and event spaces.
The New Zealander formerly worked as general manager of FCC Angkor by Avani in Siem Reap, where he drove revenue through innovative storytelling and guest experiences, starting in 2020. He now joins Anantara Riverside Bangkok. Michael oversaw the staff at another Grand Dame, the legendary Caravelle Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, before taking the reins at the famed Minor-managed resort in Cambodia. He began working there in 2016 as the Director of Rooms and was given his first general manager position the following year.
After beginning his long career in hospitality as a trainee at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla in San Diego, California, Michael has worked all around the United States, the Middle East, and Asia. Michael relocated to the Middle East in 2009 to work as the Grand Hyatt Doha's pre-opening Assistant Manager - Front Office. He then spent time at the Park Hyatt Dubai.
