Hotel Broker Vs. Trusted Advisor - By Robert J. Webster

When I first started out in hotel brokerage back in the late 1980s, the market was unsophisticated and had not adopted the fiduciary focus that was required to establish trust. Consequently, the term hotel 'broker' had mostly a negative perception. In this article, I would like to distinguish the difference between the negative connotation of 'broker' from the role of a trusted advisor.



Hotel Brokers International Announces New Leadership

Members of Hotel Brokers International (HBI), the nation’s largest brokerage organization with more than 30 offices coast to coast, today announced the organization’s newly elected 2011 board of officers and directors. Joe McCann, CHB, of Optimum Hotel Brokerage will succeed Tony DeGeorge, CHB, of Greene, Canfield, DeGeorge, Ltd. as president.

Huff, Niehaus & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce the sale of the Radisson Admiral Semmes Hotel in Mobile, Alabama. The Admiral Semmes was purchased by a partner involved in the Holiday Inn across the street. The Radisson franchise was canceled at closing. The hotel will operate as an independent under the Historic Hotels of America and is connected to Preferred Hotels.
