The top hotel franchise companies in Europe’s construction pipeline at the Q1 close are Accor with 277 projects/36,964 rooms, Hilton Worldwide with 202 projects/28,769 rooms, and Marriott International with 185 projects/28,722 rooms.
The region currently has 943 projects under construction, with 213,900 rooms, and 300 projects with 59,170 rooms scheduled to start construction in the next 12 months.
According to the latest China Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics (LE), China’s total hotel construction pipeline stands at 3,659 projects/680,959 rooms at the end of Q1‘23, down 1% by projects and 3% by rooms year-over-year (YOY).
The Latin America hotel construction pipeline, at the close of Q1 2023, stands at 546 projects/90,139 rooms, however, down slightly 3% by projects and 2% by rooms year-over-year (YOY).
At the close of Q1 2023, the country’s hotel construction pipeline currently stands at 283 projects/37,683 rooms. Canada’s total construction pipeline increased 10% by projects and 5% by rooms year-over-year (YOY).
Marriott tops the charts with the greatest number of projects in the U.S. hotel construction pipeline, at Q1 2023, with 1,499 projects/181,377 rooms, followed closely by Hilton Worldwide (Hilton), with a record-high count of 1,436 projects/161,359 rooms, and then InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) with 809 projects/80,679 rooms.
In the Q1 2023 U.S. Construction Pipeline Trend Report released by e (LE), LE analysts report, that as a group, year-over-year the hotel construction pipeline has grown in the Top 25 Markets in the U.S.
In the latest United States Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics (LE), analysts report that construction pipeline projects in the U.S. continue to increase, standing at 5,545 projects/658,207 rooms at the close of Q1 2023.
However, three of the seven world regions tracked by LE, the United States, Canada, and Asia Pacific, continue to have pipelines trending upward, YOY. The remaining regions stayed largely unchanged by project counts YOY.
