Hawks Cay Resort, the largest destination resort in the Florida Keys, announced the appointment of Robert (Bob) Moore as its new general manager. Moore, who joined the Hawks Cay team in early 2021 as resort director, brings a wealth of industry experience, leveraging it to drive the property’s growth and success. With nearly 25 years of hospitality expertise, Moore will oversee all operations of the resort and engage with clients, community members, and industry professionals, delivering extraordinary experiences for discerning guests.
“We’re thrilled that Bob accepted the position to lead the Hawks Cay team,” said Rikki Boparai, vice president of operations, Benchmark, Pyramid Luxury & Lifestyle. “As a seasoned hotelier, he will streamline operational efficiencies, and his experience with meetings and conventions will prove invaluable as we work to bring back group business.”
Moore began his hospitality career in 1998 as the director of catering and conference services at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, later assuming the same role at Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. From 2002 through 2016, he worked at Gaylord Hotels, first as vice president of conference management at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and then as hotel manager and vice president of conference management at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. In the latter role, he led a pre-opening operational timeline consisting of 500,000 square feet of conference space and 2,000 guest rooms.
Prior to joining Hawks Cay Resort, Moore served as the general manager of CSI DMC Nashville, where he successfully designed and implemented strategies with hotel partners. He spearheaded the establishment of a new CSI DMC office, developing and executing effective business and marketing plans that generated $4.5 million in revenue in 2019. As resort director at Hawks Cay Resort, Moore demonstrated exceptional leadership and excellence in hospitality management, overseeing all aspects of the resort and guest experience.
"As we approach the 200th anniversary of the Florida Keys, it is an exciting time to assume the role of general manager and welcome new and returning guests," said Moore. "Having served as the resort director, I am deeply connected to the resort and its esteemed legacy. I am honored to continue working with our exceptional team to uphold and elevate its long-standing reputation as a premier destination. With my conference service experience, I am particularly thrilled to curate exceptional group experiences that will further distinguish Hawks Cay as an industry leader."
