The Green Leaf Inns RECs came from Crossroads Wind Farm in Oklahoma, and support the development of wind energy.
In support of the Green Leaf Inns sustainability goals, 45 Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) have been purchased; covering the anticipated energy cost for construction and operations over a 12 month period.
This purchase of the environmental attributes of 45 megawatt hours (45,000 kWh) of renewable energy generation equates to 50,349 pounds of CO2 NOT being produced.
And 50,349 pounds of CO2 is equivalent to:
- the emissions from 2,560 gallons of gasoline consumed
- the emissions from 952 propane cylinders used for home barbecues
- the greenhouse gas emissions avoided by recycling 8.6 tons of waste instead of sending it to the landfill
The Green Leaf Inns RECs came from Crossroads Wind Farm in Oklahoma, and support the development of wind energy.
The Green Leaf Inn (GLI) is the first Net Zero Energy Hotel being built in North America. The Inn is designed to be both a green luxury getaway and a sustainable demonstration model; a living laboratory and catalog of new technology, products, and providers. www.thegreenleafinn.com
